Tony Ash

Chair, religion dept. (Malibu)

In the fall of 1972, Tony Ash was the chairman of the religion department on Pepperdine's new Malibu campus and the preacher at the young Church of Christ of Malibu. Ash was recruited from sister-school Abilene Christian College in Texas, where he had made a name for himself in the churches of Christ as a minister and scholar.1 He was recruited to the Malibu campus when it opened in 1972.2

Ash served on the committee that developed the new interdisciplinary curriculum for the Malibu campus with Jerry Hudson and James Smythe.3

He was the featured speaker at the 36th annual Founder's Day convocation on the LA campus.4
